Jeffrey Starn, 54, has been sentenced to 29 years in prison following his conviction for child molesting. The conviction stems from a 2022 investigation involving the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old victim.
A man has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison after being convicted of child molesting in Marion County.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday that Jeffrey Starn, 54, received a 29-year sentence after he was convicted on June 3 in Marion Superior Court 21. Online court records indicate that Starn’s sentence includes a two-year suspension and a jail credit of 115 days.
According to court documents, an investigation was launched on March 11, 2022, when police responded to an apartment in the 9000 block of Sunny Ridge in Indianapolis to conduct a child molesting investigation.
During the investigation, police found evidence that Starn had inappropriately touched and performed a sex act on a 12-year-old victim. The victim disclosed in forensic interviews that Starn had sexually abused them in March 2022.
“Our Sex Crimes Unit continually demonstrates that they are among the very best in the country, especially when it comes to prosecuting the most despicable defendants,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. “When a child is victimized, they deserve our best fighting for them and that’s what we have here in Marion County.”
This case marks the latest in a series of recent child molesting sentences in Marion County. Last week, an Indianapolis man received a 119-year sentence after being convicted of multiple child sex crimes. This week, Ira Miles was sentenced to 49 years in prison for child molesting, rape, and several other felony charges.
