Man Fatally Shot Outside Mucky Duck Pub in Indianapolis, Suspect in Custody
A night out on the south side of Indianapolis turned deadly when a man was fatally shot outside the Mucky Duck Pub early Thursday morning. Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting, which occurred during a chaotic confrontation caught on surveillance video.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 28-year-old Jereme Curtis Dillingham. An autopsy confirmed he died from a gunshot wound to the torso, and the death has been ruled a homicide.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Southport Crossings Way at approximately 1:35 a.m. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Dillingham critically injured in the parking lot. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died roughly 30 minutes later.
Witnesses described a disturbing scene.
“It didn’t feel real,” said Elijah Daviau, a bar patron who witnessed the aftermath. “I saw the guy lying there and a bunch of people freaking out.”
Investigators quickly turned to surveillance footage from the pub, which reportedly shows the suspect—identified as Kaeden Douglas—being asked to leave the establishment. After exiting, Douglas is seen walking around the building and returning to his car.
The video then captures Dillingham approaching the vehicle and reaching into the passenger-side window. At that moment, the suspect opened fire, sparking panic in the parking lot.
Bystanders attempted CPR on the victim as emotions ran high. When police arrived, they encountered a chaotic and violent scene, including physical altercations among those present.
“There was a fight and people beating each other up. Even when the cops pulled up, they were still beating each other up,” Daviau added.
“Upon officers arriving, there was a large disturbance out in the parking lot,” said IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer.
Douglas was located later in the day and taken into custody. According to court documents, he told investigators he was too intoxicated to remember what happened during the incident.
This marks the second homicide this year in the same business park. In February, a deadly shooting occurred at a Texas Roadhouse across the street following another altercation.
IMPD is urging any additional witnesses who left the scene without speaking to officers to contact IMPD’s Homicide Office or reach out anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
As of now, formal charges are pending and the investigation remains active.
