Deloitte to Launch Technology Centre in Newcastle as Part of UK-Wide Expansion

Major investment set to boost jobs and innovation in the North East

Deloitte has announced plans to open a new technology delivery centre in Newcastle, marking a significant investment in the North East’s future as a hub for digital innovation and job creation.

The centre is part of a broader initiative that includes the launch of four new regional technology hubs across the UK—in Newcastle, Manchester, Belfast, and Cardiff. All four centres are scheduled to be operational by 1 June 2025.

Supporting Digital Transformation Across the UK

The Newcastle centre will initially bring together 50 highly skilled technologists from within Deloitte's existing teams. These professionals will design, build, and operate advanced technology solutions to support the evolving needs of businesses across the country.

These regional centres form part of Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation strategy and are aimed at improving service delivery while enhancing digital capabilities nationwide.

Doubling Workforce and Strengthening Local Economies

Deloitte expects to double its workforce across these centres over the next three years, growing to a total of 1,500 technology professionals. This expansion is expected to create new opportunities for skilled workers and graduates, with a focus on building long-term careers in areas such as software development, data engineering, AI, and cybersecurity.

In addition to job creation, the investment also includes efforts to build local partnerships with universities and training providers to promote digital skills and inclusive access to careers in technology.

Confidence in Newcastle’s Innovation Potential

Anil Gupta, Senior Partner for Yorkshire and the North East at Deloitte, expressed strong confidence in Newcastle as a strategic location for the new centre.

“I'm very proud of our investment in Newcastle. It's a significant step in establishing a thriving technology centre in the North East and reinforces our commitment to this dynamic region.

As businesses reimagine themselves in response to rapid technological change, our technology centres represent a major milestone in how we deliver future-ready solutions for our clients.

This investment demonstrates our belief in Newcastle’s potential as a centre for innovation. We are not just creating a new facility—we are building careers and investing in the long-term future of the city and the wider North East region.”

A Focus on Future-Ready Solutions

The technology delivery centres will focus on helping UK organisations modernise their operations through bespoke digital tools and infrastructure. Deloitte plans to use these hubs to deliver client services more efficiently, while also fostering innovation in cloud computing, analytics, automation, and digital strategy.

By embedding highly skilled teams in regional locations, Deloitte aims to bring cutting-edge expertise closer to its clients while supporting the government’s ambition of levelling up local economies.

Long-Term Vision

The new centres represent a significant shift in how professional services firms deliver technology solutions. Deloitte’s decision to expand in Newcastle and other key cities underscores its long-term vision to build a resilient, digitally enabled economy supported by local talent.

The Newcastle technology centre is set to become a cornerstone of that effort, serving as both a delivery hub and a talent incubator for years to come.
