Midnight Tragedy on Bronx Street Leaves Community in Mourning

In the early hours of Monday morning, a quiet Bronx neighborhood was shaken by a deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 43-year-old man. The collision occurred around 1 a.m. at the intersection of East 160th Street and Webster Avenue in the Morrisania area.

Authorities say the victim was crossing the street when a black Mercedes speeding southbound on Webster Avenue struck him and fled the scene without stopping. Emergency responders arrived promptly and rushed the man to Lincoln Hospital, but despite their efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Police have not released the man's identity, pending notification of his family. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the driver remains at large. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and appealing to the public for any information that could help locate the vehicle or its driver.

The tragedy has left the local community heartbroken. One resident, visibly shaken, recalled the victim fondly. "That was like my brother. He was a good guy, a family guy. A whole father," the neighbor said, struggling to hold back tears.

The incident has sparked renewed concern about reckless driving and pedestrian safety in the area. “I think we need to slow down and pay attention to the pedestrians,” another local resident said. “We’ll live longer if we just take a moment to be more careful.”

As the search for the driver continues, the community is left grappling with the loss of a man remembered not just as a pedestrian, but as a father, a friend, and a loved one whose life was taken far too soon.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to come forward and help bring justice to the grieving family and community.
