Poison in a Pouch as Illegal Juice Factory Busted in Residential Area
What looked like harmless juice pouches sold to children turned out to be a shocking health hazard as authorities uncovered an illegal factory mixing detergent and chemicals into flavored drinks. In a surprise raid on Monday, officials exposed the dangerous operation running out of a residential neighborhood in Gauzajali and promptly sealed the unit.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of administrative officers reached the site and found a juice pouch manufacturing setup operating without any legal clearance. The so-called “juice” was being made using toxic substances including detergent—a horrifying revelation, especially considering that the products were being widely consumed by unsuspecting children.
The factory, reportedly set up by a man from Meerut, had no license from the Food Safety Department and lacked any official approval to operate. During the inspection, large quantities of raw chemicals were discovered alongside packaging materials. Samples of the products were collected for testing under the Food Safety Act, and the site was immediately shut down to prevent further distribution.
Among the violations noted, officials found the use of domestic water connections for commercial production, absence of purchase or sales records, and no documentation regarding the ingredients used. The setup was clearly meant to evade regulation while maximizing profits at the cost of public health.
Authorities have instructed the concerned departments to file a legal case against the factory owner. The swift action has likely prevented a larger public health crisis, but the incident raises urgent questions about food safety enforcement and unchecked manufacturing in residential areas.
Parents and locals, upon hearing the news, expressed outrage, with many shocked that such a hazardous product had been so easily available in local markets.
As investigations continue, officials urge the public to remain cautious about street-sold consumables and to report any suspicious production activity in their neighborhoods.
