Double Murder in Rudrapur: Father and Son Killed in Cold Blood Over Property Dispute

Early Monday in Rudrapur's big grain market, something awful happened. A father and his younger son were shot and killed. This made everyone in the area very scared and upset.

The father, Gurmez Singh Sandhu, was 62 and owned a shop there. He had bought it about eight months ago. In the early morning, he got news that some people were trying to take over his shop illegally.

So, Gurmez and his 28-year-old son, Manpreet Singh, went to the shop on a bike. Gurmez's older son, Surendra Singh (also called Honey), followed on his scooter. When the father and younger son got there, they saw people using a big machine to break down the shop's wall to try and take it.

When Gurmez and Manpreet tried to stop them, the people there attacked them and shot them. Manpreet was shot in the chest, and Gurmez was shot in the leg. Surendra was also shot at but managed to run away and save himself. He immediately called the police.

The police and a special team that looks at crime scenes came quickly. They are trying to find out what happened. They have filed a case against two men, Dinesh Saluja and Avdhesh Saluja, and also against 10 to 15 other people they don't know yet. The police are looking everywhere to find these attackers.

There's a strange part to the story. One of the men accused, Dinesh, also got shot in the leg. He showed up at the police station not long after the shooting. The police are asking him questions, and he is getting treated at a hospital. Some people think it's odd that he got shot too, and they wonder if it's a way to make the whole thing seem like a fight, not just a planned attack.

A leader of a farmers' group, Tajinder Singh Virk, said that the people trying to take the shop seemed to have come prepared with guns and vehicles. The father and son just rushed there from their sleep to stop them. He thinks it's hard to believe that one of the attackers would get shot after killing two people, and it might be a way to hide what really happened.

The top police officer, Manikant Mishra, also said that it seems strange that Dinesh got shot. He said his team is looking into that very carefully. This terrible event has made everyone in Rudrapur worried, and they want the police to find the people who did this and make sure they are punished.
