Queensland Government Unveils Five-Year Freight Delivery Plan to Modernize Supply Corridors Across Brisbane

BRISBANE, Australia — The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads has unveiled its comprehensive Queensland Freight Delivery Plan, establishing 70 coordinated infrastructure actions aimed at de-bottlenecking heavy freight routes across the greater Brisbane metropolitan basin and regional agricultural supply chains.

Formulated in close collaboration with the Queensland Ministerial Freight Council, the five-year strategic blueprint coordinates road, rail, and port logistics to support expanding commercial trade volumes. Central priorities include dedicated freight bypass lanes, elevated heavy-vehicle clearance corridors, and optimized rail connections directly feeding the Port of Brisbane intermodal shipping terminals.

The plan also accelerates zero-emission transport transition pilots, providing commercial haulage operators with designated heavy-vehicle electric charging stations and hydrogen refueling corridors along key arterial routes between South East Queensland, the Sunshine Coast, and the Darling Downs.

State transport officials highlighted that lowering transport transit times and reducing supply chain frictions directly protects consumer household budgets by lowering regional goods distribution expenses across Queensland supermarkets and manufacturers.

Targeted civil works and road interchange upgrades outlined under the first delivery phase are set to commence across key industrial transit hubs over the next fiscal quarter.
