BRISBANE, Australia — The Commonwealth Government of Australia and the Queensland State Government have signed a pivotal Federation Funding Agreement (FFA), officially releasing capital for the first six major construction packages under the $7.1 billion Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Venues Infrastructure Program.

Signed following ministerial bilateral summits in Brisbane, the agreement unlocks federal matching funds for comprehensive site preparation, geotechnical surveying, and architectural master planning. A premier focus of the program is the new state-of-the-art stadium precinct at Victoria Park, designed to seat 63,000 spectators and anchor the Games' opening and track-and-field ceremonies.

Beyond the Victoria Park centerpiece, the newly funded projects include regional sporting venue enhancements and athlete village infrastructure distributed across the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Rockhampton. Authorities emphasized that every venue design incorporates strict post-Games legacy utility, ensuring facilities transition smoothly into accessible community sports and civic event hubs.

Brisbane City Council is aligning the venue schedule with its Race to Gold municipal transit plan, accelerating construction on Cross River Rail underground stations and dedicated Brisbane Metro rapid transit lines to ensure seamless mobility for athletes, spectators, and everyday residents.

Formal procurement tenders for primary engineering contractors are slated to open in the coming weeks, generating thousands of specialized civil engineering, construction, and project management jobs across South East Queensland.
