Woman hospitalized after early-morning gunfire in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood

CHICAGO — A 67-year-old woman was shot in the leg early Friday after approaching two people near a parked vehicle in the Roseland neighborhood on the city’s South Side, according to Chicago police.

The Roseland shooting happened at about 5:45 a.m. in the 9300 block of South Stewart Avenue. Police said the woman saw two people standing near a parked car and approached them. The two people then opened fire, striking her in the leg.

Officers did not release information about what led the woman to approach the individuals or whether she knew either of them. Police also did not provide descriptions of the shooters, details about the vehicle, or information on a possible motive.

The woman was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where police said her condition was stabilized. Authorities did not report any other injuries in connection with the shooting.
