Forest Grove Quintuple Homicide Investigation Identifies Five Victims

Authorities identify family members and friends killed at rural Oregon home

FOREST GROVE, Oregon — Investigators have identified the five people found dead at a rural property outside Forest Grove as a family group and two friends, as authorities continue to examine the deaths as a Forest Grove quintuple homicide. The bodies were discovered Saturday at the home about 30 miles west of Portland, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the victims’ names Monday.

The dead were identified as 26-year-old Stella Jade Kimsey; her mother, 60-year-old Rowan Karla Kimsey; and her grandmother, 85-year-old Mary Elizabeth Kimsey. Authorities also identified Stella Kimsey’s best friend, 26-year-old Linsey Mae Haraldsen, and Haraldsen’s partner, 27-year-old Alvin Raymond Chu, as victims.

Investigators said Rowan Kimsey owned the property, where she lived with her daughter Stella and Stella’s boyfriend, 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker. Parker was later found dead inside his vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington, roughly 187 miles north of the Forest Grove-area home.

Law enforcement officials believe Parker died by suicide. The sheriff’s office has not publicly said how the five victims were killed, nor has it detailed the sequence of events that led investigators to the property. Authorities announced the homicide investigation Sunday, a day after the bodies were found.

Large crime scene adds to complexity of case

The deaths of animals at the home have also become part of the investigation. Deputies found two dogs and two cats dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. A fifth cat was taken for veterinary care but was euthanized because of the severity of its injuries.

Washington County Sheriff Caprice Massey described the scene as unusually challenging for investigators. “I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation,” Massey said.

The rural setting and the number of victims have required an extensive evidence review, with investigators working across jurisdictions after Parker’s body was located in Washington state. Officials have not announced whether a weapon was recovered, whether the victims died at the same time, or what they believe motivated the killings.

The case has drawn attention because five deaths at one residence are rare and because the victims appear to have been closely connected through family and friendship. The investigation is being led by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, which has said the scale of the crime scene is contributing to the time needed to process evidence and establish a full account of what occurred.

As of the latest update, all five victims have been identified and Parker is dead. Detectives have not released a cause of death for the victims or animals, and the Forest Grove quintuple homicide investigation remains ongoing.
