Woman Dies After Being Pulled From Lake Michigan in Chicago

Death investigation underway after South Side water rescue

A woman died Sunday morning after she was pulled from Lake Michigan near South Lake Shore Drive on Chicago’s South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Police said the woman was removed from the water at about 10:15 a.m. in the 4500 block of South Lake Shore Drive, a stretch of lakefront near the city’s South Side. Emergency responders transported her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities had not immediately released the woman’s name, age or cause of death. Police also did not provide details about how long she may have been in the water or the circumstances that led to her being found in Lake Michigan.
