Campaigners plan bicycle march to Lingen fuel plant

Another organizer, the alliance Münsterland gegen Atomanlagen, is calling for the Lingen factory to be shut down. The group’s demand goes beyond opposition to the proposed cooperation and targets the continued operation of the facility itself.

The planned protest highlights continued political and public scrutiny of European nuclear supply chains, particularly where companies consider relationships involving Russian state enterprises. While nuclear energy policy has shifted sharply in parts of Europe in recent years, the manufacture and supply of fuel components remain an important part of the wider debate over energy security, sanctions and industrial dependence.

Framatome operates the Lingen fuel element factory, making the town a focal point for campaigners who oppose nuclear power and related industrial activity. The groups have framed Monday’s planned action as a protest both against Rosatom’s prospective involvement and against the plant’s future operation.
