West Pullman Shooting Leaves 16-Year-Old Hospitalized in Chicago
Gunfire reported on South Normal Avenue Tuesday night
A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot Tuesday night in the West Pullman neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side, according to police.
The West Pullman shooting was reported about 8:23 p.m. in the 11700 block of South Normal Avenue. The teenager was outside when several people exited a light-colored vehicle and opened fire, Chicago police said.
The boy suffered a gunshot wound to his left forearm and a graze wound to his stomach, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
Authorities did not release information about a possible motive, the number of people who fired shots or whether the teen was the intended target. Police also did not provide a description of the vehicle beyond its light color.
The shooting occurred in a residential area of West Pullman, a neighborhood near Chicago’s southern city limits. Investigators will likely seek surveillance video, physical evidence and witness accounts from the area as they work to identify those involved.
Police said no one was in custody as of the latest update. The investigation into the West Pullman shooting remains ongoing.
