San Antonio Apartment Shooting Leaves One Dead, 18-Year-Old Injured
Gunmen fired on Northwest Side apartment unit, police say
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A man was killed and an 18-year-old man was wounded after three gunmen fired at an apartment unit at a Northwest Side complex shortly after midnight Tuesday, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The San Antonio apartment shooting was reported at about 12:10 a.m. in the 4000 block of Woodstone Drive, at the Woodhill Apartments. Police said a black SUV entered the complex parking lot and three men got out before opening fire toward one of the units.
One victim, described by police as a man between 18 and 25 years old, was struck in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officers said. Authorities had not released his identity as of Tuesday.
A second victim, an 18-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle. Police said he is expected to recover. No additional injuries were reported in the information released by investigators.
After the gunfire, the three suspects returned to the black SUV and left the apartment complex, police said. Officers responding to the scene recovered shell casings from both a handgun and a rifle outside the property, indicating that more than one type of firearm may have been used.
The shooting unfolded at an occupied residential complex, where investigators must determine who was being targeted and whether the gunmen and victims knew one another. Police did not publicly describe a motive, identify the suspected shooters or provide a detailed description of the SUV.
Detectives are continuing to process evidence from the scene and investigate the fatal shooting. The suspects remained outstanding Tuesday, and the San Antonio Police Department’s investigation is ongoing.
