Tony Anderson expressed skepticism regarding his brother’s involvement, stating, “They had their good days, their bad days, but I don’t think he done nothing like that. The autopsy will tell actually what happened to her.” As the investigation progresses, Anderson acknowledged that Fortune and his brother did have disputes but characterized them as typical of many relationships.

Christy Spivey, Fortune’s mother, conveyed her devastation over the loss, stating that she last saw her daughter during a family reunion on July 26 in Kentucky. Spivey described Fortune as someone “full of laughs and love,” and she noted that her daughter appeared to be in high spirits at their last meeting. “She was better than I had seen her in a long time,” Spivey recalled.
Spivey vehemently rejected the notion that her daughter could have taken her own life, asserting, “She did not do this to herself.
