The remains of two individuals were uncovered in a backyard in Litchfield Park, Arizona on Thursday, as law enforcement investigates the disappearance of a couple, who are the parents of a man suspected of fleeing the country.

Local police announced that they were searching for 27-year-old Matthew Flores, who had initially been reported missing alongside his parents on Tuesday, following concerns voiced by family members. Officer Daniel Benavidez, spokesperson for the Avondale Police Department, stated during a press conference that police initiated a welfare check at the family home based on these reports.

Foul Play Suspected

Upon arrival, authorities discovered significant evidence suggesting foul play, including a considerable amount of blood and signs of an attempt to conceal it. “This led us to believe that foul play is involved,” Benavidez said, adding that the human remains found in the backyard had begun to decompose, though he could not confirm how long they had been there.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, following a request from the concerned family that initially reported them missing. However, police have labeled Flores a suspect in the ongoing investigation. “We are actively looking for him and have leads in the case,” Benavidez confirmed. “Anyone with information regarding Flores’ whereabouts or his movements is encouraged to contact the police department.”
