Tragic Shooting Leaves Two Dead and Dog in Critical Condition in Harvey

Two people and a dog were found fatally shot inside a home in far south suburban Harvey early Thursday morning, according to local authorities.

Harvey police officers responded to a call at around 7:23 a.m. near 150th Street and Vine Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene, Harvey Police Chief Dale Mitchell confirmed.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified one of the victims as Aaron Jones, a 50-year-old resident of Harvey.

In addition to the human casualties, two dogs were also shot during the incident; one dog was found deceased, while the other remains in critical condition.

While the investigation is ongoing, Harvey police officials refrained from providing specific details about the shooting, stating that they are working closely with the Illinois State Police to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

“I am heartbroken by this tragic loss of two lives in our community today,” remarked Harvey Mayor Shirley Drewenski during a news conference Thursday afternoon. “On behalf of the city of Harvey, I extend my deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones during this unimaginable time.”

As of now, there are no updates regarding suspects or a motive, as the investigation continues.
