CHICAGO, Illinois — Commemorating Chicago's profound labor heritage in the heart of downtown on October 28–29, 2026, Mayor Brandon Johnson, municipal leaders, and the Mother Jones Heritage Project broke ground on the Mother Jones 'We Shall Rise' Monument. Located at the prominent intersection of Wacker Drive, Wabash Avenue, and South Water Street, the bronze memorial marks the first public monument in downtown Chicago’s Loop dedicated to a historical woman.
