The summer months of high school basketball have wrapped up, spotlighting remarkable breakout players and significant transfers across the nation. Key players have emerged, reshaping their future prospects. This summer's standout talents include Crane's Jamier Montgomery and Bradley Beal Elite's Brady Pettigrew, both of whom have witnessed meteoric rises in their recruitment status.

In a summer filled with opportunities, Jamier Montgomery, a senior at Crane, transformed his visibility despite initial challenges. Faced with limited exposure during June's evaluation periods, Montgomery made a significant impact while playing for the independent club team, Young and Reckless, participating in events in Nashville and Chicago. His consistent performance culminated in a remarkable run to the title game of Recruit Look's Chicago Bracket Finale.

The 6-foot-1 guard's impressive scoring ability and matured gameplay caught the attention of college coaches, leading him to become the top senior prospect in the Chicago Public League. Montgomery recently committed to Kent State University, highlighting his evolution from an overlooked player to a bona fide mid-major recruit.

On the junior front, Brady Pettigrew’s summer was equally spectacular. Already recognized as a top prospect in the Class of 2028, the 6-foot-3 guard excelled on the prestigious Nike EYBL circuit, particularly during the Peach Jam tournament, where he averaged 23.6 points per game and earned the title of 16U Nike EYBL Most Valuable Player. A more significant trend this summer was the migration of talented players to national prep schools, exemplified by Warren’s Jaxson Davis, the current top player in the Class of 2027. Davis's decision to transfer to Monarch Academy in Kansas City has raised eyebrows, further fueled by East Peoria’s Quinton Kitt also opting for Monarch. Additionally, Amarion Smith-Holley, a dynamic point guard from Peoria Richwoods, has moved to prep school, recently receiving offers including one from Kansas.
