Cleanup Underway After EF-1 Tornado Strikes San Antonio's Northwest Side

Cleanup efforts are progressing in San Antonio's Northwest Side following an EF-1 tornado that touched down on Wednesday morning, leaving behind significant damage but no serious injuries. The tornado carved a 4-mile path and was on the ground for approximately eight minutes, affecting local businesses and residences.

Among the locations that have reopened is the Santikos Palladium theater, which has resumed normal operations despite some ongoing repairs. Nearby, a Marshalls store remains closed due to damage, with its entrance taped off. Residents in the Tanglewood subdivision reported quick responses from local crews, who began clearing debris shortly after the storm.

The most severe damage occurred at the Oasis Apartments near UTSA Boulevard, where a significant portion of the roof was torn off. Gage Commercial Construction is leading the recovery efforts at this site, focusing on stabilizing the property and restoring essential services. The company indicated that the recovery process could take several weeks, with ongoing remediation to prevent further damage.

Authorities confirmed that at least 10 students from the University of Texas at San Antonio were displaced due to the storm. While cleanup continues, officials have reported no serious injuries from the tornado.
