Individual Injured in Gun Struggle with Police in Fuller Park

A person sustained a gunshot wound during a confrontation with Chicago police early Saturday in Fuller Park, located on the South Side. Officers from the 9th District Tactical Team responded to reports of a large gathering in the 5300 block of South Princeton Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m.

While attempting to disperse the crowd, police officers stopped an individual suspected of possessing a firearm. A brief struggle ensued, during which the weapon discharged, resulting in a gunshot wound to the individual's thigh. Emergency medical services were summoned, and the injured person was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they are reported to be in good condition. No officers discharged their weapons, and no additional injuries were reported. The Investigative Response Team is currently handling the investigation.
