The preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, charged with the aggravated murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, resumed Wednesday afternoon. Defense attorneys are challenging the reliability of DNA testing that prosecutors claim links Robinson to the suspected murder weapon, a bolt-action rifle found near the scene of the shooting at Utah Valley University on September 10.

During the hearing, FBI analyst Amanda Bakker testified that DNA found on a towel associated with the rifle matched two individuals, including Robinson's roommate. However, defense attorney Michael Burt questioned the analyst's conclusions, suggesting that the DNA evidence may not definitively connect Robinson to the crime. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, and Judge Tony Graf will determine if there is sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
