Man Killed, Woman Injured in Mundelein Apartment Shooting
A shooting incident in Mundelein, Illinois, on Tuesday morning resulted in the death of a man and serious injuries to a woman. Police responded to the scene in the 500 block of Deepwoods Drive at approximately 11:40 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.
Following the shooting, heavily armed officers canvassed the area, and the crime scene remained active for several hours, causing access issues for residents. One resident reported significant chaos and disturbances in the building prior to the incident.
Authorities have indicated that the shooting appears to be targeted and domestic in nature. Mundelein police have obtained a description of a suspect vehicle, which was traced by Illinois State Police to the Bishop Ford Freeway near 130th Street, where two individuals were taken into custody.
The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force and Mundelein police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
