Shooting at Matteson Amazon Facility Leaves One Dead, Suspect at Large

A shooting incident at an Amazon fulfillment center in Matteson, Illinois, resulted in the death of a 27-year-old employee late Sunday night. The altercation began as a food delivery driver was dropping off an order around 10:54 p.m. Witnesses reported that the argument escalated into a physical confrontation in the parking lot, during which the driver allegedly shot the employee multiple times in the torso.

Matteson Police arrived at the scene and found the victim, identified as Dylan Perkins of Glenwood, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived, but Perkins was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The suspected shooter, a food delivery driver, fled the scene, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Matteson Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Authorities have stated that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Amazon confirmed that Perkins was working for a third-party vendor at the facility and expressed condolences, stating they are cooperating with the police investigation. The facility was placed on lockdown following the shooting, and police have urged anyone with information to contact the Matteson Police Department.
