Fatal Boat Collision Near Monroe Harbor Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

A woman was killed and multiple others sustained serious injuries in a boat collision near Monroe Harbor in Chicago late Saturday night. The incident occurred just before midnight near 500 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive and 400 East Monroe, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Emergency responders transported five individuals to local hospitals, where a 26-year-old woman was later pronounced dead, as confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner. Four additional individuals at the scene declined medical assistance.

Photos and videos from the incident showed significant damage to at least one of the boats involved, which was secured to a Chicago police vessel in Lake Michigan. The scene prompted a large response from the Chicago Fire Department, Chicago Police Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard, with officials seen assisting injured individuals onto land and into ambulances.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the crash. The investigation is ongoing, with inquiries directed to the Chicago Police Department and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
