Cook County Medical Examiner Identifies 20-Year-Old Killed in Dan Ryan Expressway Rollover Crash

A 20-year-old man died and at least three other people were injured following a two-vehicle rollover crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Sunday morning. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has identified the deceased victim as Jairo Uriostegui .

Illinois State Police reported that troopers were called to the scene at 12:57 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the expressway near 91st Street. Upon arrival, responders found one of the involved vehicles resting in the grass alongside the highway near an overpass, while the second vehicle was located further back along the roadway.

In addition to the fatality, emergency crews transported three other individuals to area hospitals. Their current medical conditions have not been disclosed. State police have not yet indicated what factors led to the collision or how the rollover occurred.

Following the crash, authorities closed all outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway at the scene to allow for an investigation and cleanup. The roadway remained closed for approximately four hours before state police reopened all lanes to traffic at 5:08 a.m.
