15-Year-Old Student Dies by Suicide After Teacher Shot at Hill Country College Preparatory High School

A 15-year-old student died by suicide after allegedly shooting a teacher at Hill Country College Preparatory High School near Bulverde, Texas, on the morning of Monday, March 30, authorities confirmed.

According to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, the male student was pronounced dead at the scene. The teacher, whose name has not been disclosed, was transported to a hospital in San Antonio, but their current condition remains unknown as of Monday afternoon. Sheriff Mark Reynolds stated that both individuals have not been publicly identified and that investigators are probing the nature of the connection between the student and the teacher.

The incident prompted an immediate lockdown of the campus at 8:34 a.m., with law enforcement responding rapidly. Authorities emphasized the shooting was contained quickly and that there was no ongoing threat to students or staff. By mid-morning, students were bused to nearby Bulverde Middle School for reunification with their families.

As a result of the incident, classes at the high school were canceled for Tuesday, March 31, to allow students and staff time to process and begin healing. Counseling services will be available at the Mammen Family Public Library, according to Principal Julie Wiley. The Ecumenical Center also announced emotional support resources for anyone affected by the shooting.

The sheriff’s office is focusing on supporting those impacted and is investigating the origin of the firearm used in the incident. Law enforcement officials have maintained a presence at the school, and the investigation remains ongoing. The campus will stay closed until cleared by authorities, and guidance on retrieving personal items will be provided at a later time.
