Southeast Texas Braces for Multi-Day Storm Threat Starting Tuesday Night
Texas is entering a period of volatile weather as a series of storms is expected to move through the region beginning late Tuesday. The first line of storms is forecast to travel from the north, impacting Huntsville and College Station before moving into the Houston metro area and eventually reaching Galveston by early Wednesday morning.
The primary hazards associated with the incoming system include heavy rain, frequent lightning, high winds, and the potential for hail. While the exact timing of the front's arrival is not yet certain, meteorologists expect the most significant activity to occur between 6 p.m. Tuesday and midnight.
This initial wave of weather is part of a larger pattern that will bring daily storm chances to Southeast Texas through the upcoming weekend. Forecasters warn that these repeated rounds of precipitation will provide multiple opportunities for rain to accumulate, increasing the necessity for residents to remain weather-aware over the next several days.
Although specific flooding locations have not been identified, current weather models highlight coastal counties as having the highest potential for significant rain totals. Isolated areas across Southeast Texas could see between 2 and 4 inches of rain starting Wednesday, with additional totals possible later in the week. The threat of flooding will be monitored closely through Friday and into the weekend.
