Missing Jordanian Athlete Found Safe in Chicago Suburb
A 24-year-old Jordanian athlete with cerebral palsy, Rabe'e Ata Juma'a Alqaq, was located in Bridgeview, a suburb of Chicago, on Tuesday morning after being reported missing shortly after his arrival at Rice University in Houston for a soccer tournament. Alqaq was last seen around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, prompting concern from university officials.
According to police, Alqaq contacted the Rice University Police Department after seeing news reports about his disappearance. Authorities confirmed that he traveled to Illinois by bus voluntarily and that no foul play is suspected in his case. The reasons for his departure remain unclear and will be investigated if he returns to Houston.
The Rice University Police Department is coordinating with local authorities in Illinois, the Jordan Consulate of Texas, and Alqaq's soccer team to ensure his well-being and facilitate his return to Houston.
