Chicago Man Arrested After Woman Stabbed During Austin Home Invasion

A man has been arrested and charged following a violent home invasion in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood last week that left a 26-year-old woman seriously injured, authorities said.

Chicago police took Vincent Zuniga, 35, into custody on Tuesday after an investigation into the incident, which occurred on April 16 in the 5400 block of West Ohio Street. According to police, Zuniga is accused of entering a residence and stabbing the woman during the invasion.

The victim sustained serious injuries in the attack. Officials have not released further details about her current condition.

Zuniga faces multiple felony charges including attempted first degree murder, home invasion, domestic battery, armed robbery, and burglary. A court hearing to determine his detention is scheduled for Thursday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, police stated.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime impacting residential neighborhoods in Chicago, particularly those involving home invasions.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. Zuniga remains in custody pending his hearing.
