IndiGo Flight Diverted to Jaipur Due to Bomb Threat

In a significant security incident, an IndiGo flight en route to Lucknow was diverted to Jaipur after receiving a threatening email alleging the presence of a bomb on board. The flight, which had taken off from Dammam in Saudi Arabia, was promptly isolated upon landing at Jaipur Airport, ensuring the safety of all passengers.

According to an IndiGo spokesperson, “The aircraft was isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked. We are working closely with the relevant authorities, and mandated checks are underway.” This swift response highlights the airline’s commitment to passenger safety and security protocols.

Upon arrival, Jaipur police were quick to act, deploying a bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) alongside sniffer dogs to thoroughly inspect the aircraft. Fortunately, no suspicious items were discovered during the examination. Station House Officer (SHO) of Jaipur Airport Police Station, Sandeep Basera, confirmed that all 175 passengers were safely escorted back onto the plane after the inspection was completed, reassuring everyone involved that there was no immediate threat.

In a related note, sources within the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) reported an alarming trend, revealing that a total of 10 bomb threats had been posted on social media platforms over the preceding days. A senior police officer disclosed, “We have identified and suspended several accounts that were posting threats regarding bombs in aeroplanes. It has been stated that some threats originated in London and other countries.” This troubling information underscores the growing issue of online threats targeting aviation security.

In the past 24 hours, airport security officials have responded to multiple bomb threats across various sectors. “We are taking all calls seriously and have informed the concerned police officers regarding these threats to track down the individuals responsible,” stated an officer in airport security. The officer further emphasized the importance of every threat, explaining that passenger safety is paramount, and they cannot afford to overlook any potential danger. “Once we receive a threat, we immediately notify the airlines and the relevant security personnel at the airport to initiate further procedures,” he added.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by aviation security and the critical need for vigilance in ensuring the safety of passengers. As authorities continue to investigate and implement measures to combat such threats, the collaboration between airlines, airport security, and law enforcement agencies remains vital in safeguarding air travel.
