Two People Discovered Dead in East Garfield Park Shooting

Police located two individuals with fatal gunshot wounds inside a home on Chicago’s West Side on Tuesday evening. The discovery occurred around 5:50 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Arthington Street, within the East Garfield Park neighborhood, authorities confirmed.

According to Chicago police, a 51-year-old woman was found with three gunshot wounds to her chest, while a 23-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers recovered one firearm at the residence, but did not indicate whether anyone else was involved in the incident. No arrests have been made, and investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The East Garfield Park area has experienced sporadic incidents of gun violence, drawing attention to ongoing public safety concerns in some West Side communities. Police have not released the identities of the deceased, and the investigation remains active.

As of Wednesday morning, authorities had not announced any suspects, and no additional information regarding a motive or possible relationship between the two victims had been disclosed.
