Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder After Stabbing at Blackpool Crematorium
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman suffered multiple stab wounds at Carleton Crematorium in Blackpool on Tuesday evening, police confirmed.
Officers were called to the crematorium at approximately 6:45pm following reports of an attack. According to authorities, a woman in her 30s sustained several stab wounds during the incident. She was transported to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
The suspect, who is known to the victim, was apprehended shortly after the attack on Low Moor Road, located near the crematorium. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Chris Hammond of Blackpool police described the nature of the assault as severe, emphasizing that the victim was "fortunate not to have been more seriously hurt or even killed." Detectives are actively investigating, and authorities have appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage from the vicinity of the crematorium or Low Moor Road to come forward.
The police presence is expected to remain visible in the area as inquiries progress. Investigators confirmed that the inquiry is ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact authorities.
