Rapper Offset Shot Outside Florida Casino, Police Confirm Stable Condition
Offset, the rapper and former member of the hip-hop group Migos, was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock casino in Hollywood, Florida, on Monday night, a spokesperson confirmed. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening and he is in stable condition at a local hospital.
The incident occurred following a fight near the casino's valet area, according to the Seminole Police Department. Officers responded to the disturbance and detained two individuals at the scene. Police have not officially identified the shooting victim, but a spokesperson for Offset confirmed his involvement in the incident.
Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt and who is known for his role in the South Bronx rap scene, was arrested for disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license in connection with the altercation before the shooting. Lil Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M Florio, stated that her client was not armed and is not facing any weapon-related charges. He was released on bond Tuesday afternoon and told reporters upon leaving jail that he was not involved in any fighting.
The second individual detained during the incident has not been charged as of Tuesday, and police say investigators are working to identify additional people involved in the altercation. No further details about potential suspects or a motive behind the shooting have been disclosed.
The shooting comes more than three years after Takeoff, Offset’s cousin and fellow Migos member, was fatally shot in Houston. Migos, formed in Atlanta, is widely recognized for helping shape the sound of trap music and achieving mainstream chart success.
The investigation into Monday night’s shooting remains ongoing. Police have not announced any arrests related to the shooting itself, and Offset’s representatives have not issued further updates on his recovery.
