18-Year-Old Fatally Shot by Group Outside Englewood Business, Police Say
An 18-year-old man was shot and killed inside a business on South Wentworth Avenue in Englewood on Wednesday afternoon, according to Chicago police.
Authorities said four individuals armed with handguns exited a vehicle outside the business, located in the 6600 block, around 4:18 p.m. The group opened fire, striking the man, who was subsequently transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As of Wednesday evening, police reported that no suspects were in custody. Investigators have not released the names of those involved or additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The attack comes amid ongoing concerns about gun violence affecting some Chicago neighborhoods. Police have not disclosed a possible motive and are continuing the investigation into the fatal shooting.
