Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI After Rollover Crash in Jupiter Island, Florida
Tiger Woods, 50, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on Friday after his SUV struck the rear of a trailer in Jupiter Island, Florida, according to a report from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office released Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office stated that Woods was driving his Land Rover when he overtook a truck that was turning into a driveway. The driver of the truck, identified as 43-year-old Jeromy Bullard, reported seeing Woods traveling at high speeds just moments before the crash. Authorities said Woods attempted to swerve but clipped the trailer, causing his vehicle to roll over. Video evidence from the scene showed the SUV lying on its side.
Woods managed to climb out of the vehicle's window and was arrested at the scene. During their investigation, deputies reported observing "signs of impairment," including bloodshot and glassy eyes, extremely dilated pupils, lethargic movements, and profuse sweating despite the cool car interior. Woods reportedly struggled to perform the field sobriety test, stating he had undergone multiple surgeries on his back and leg, and that his ankle occasionally seizes when he walks.
According to the incident report, Woods told deputies he had looked down at his cellphone and failed to notice that the truck ahead had slowed. He denied consuming alcohol, stating instead that he was taking prescription medication. Two pills of hydrocodone, a prescribed painkiller, were found in his pocket. Authorities said Woods submitted to a breath test at the jail but refused a urine test.
The truck sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. Jeromy Bullard was not hospitalized or seriously injured, according to his father, who declined to comment further. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
