Search Continues for Nancy Guthrie Near Tucson as Authorities Release New Leads
On March 25, 2026, Nancy Guthrie remained missing more than seven weeks after she was reported gone from her home near Tucson, Arizona, as her daughter Savannah Guthrie spoke publicly about the family's ordeal in an interview scheduled to air this week. Savannah, who has been on leave from the TODAY program, described the search as agonizing and said the family is focused on bringing her mother home.
Authorities reported that 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1 after she did not attend a virtual church service and was last seen the night before at about 9:45 p.m. following dinner at her daughter Annie Guthrie’s home. Investigators have characterized the disappearance as a possible kidnapping or abduction. State and federal agencies are involved; the FBI released images of a masked, armed person appearing to tamper with a doorbell camera, and described a suspect as a male about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall wearing an Ozark Trail Hiker Pack 25-liter backpack. The doorbell camera disconnected at 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 1.
Forensic testing identified Nancy Guthrie’s blood on the home’s porch, and officials said genetic genealogy may be employed to analyze unknown DNA found inside the residence. The family has posted a $1 million reward for information; the FBI is offering $50,000. Savannah Guthrie visited the New York City studio recently and intends to return to on-air duties while remaining focused on the search.
