Officers responded to a residence in the 7400 block of South Rhodes Avenue after receiving a report at 6:53 p.m. According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim, a 38-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the head while inside the home.

The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment. Medical staff later pronounced him dead, police confirmed. No further identifying information about the victim was released by authorities.
