Cyclist Dies After Collision With Arlington ISD Bus at Treecrest Drive and I-20 Frontage Road

Fatal Collision Reported in Arlington

A 67-year-old man died after a collision with an Arlington Independent School District bus at the intersection of Treecrest Drive and the Interstate 20 frontage road in Arlington, Texas. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, according to the Arlington Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene and found the cyclist, identified as William Roberts, lying in the roadway. Emergency personnel transported Roberts to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Sequence of Events at the Intersection

Investigators stated that the crash happened as the school bus attempted to make a right turn from Treecrest Drive onto the I-20 frontage road. At the same time, Roberts was approaching the intersection while riding his bicycle eastbound along the I-20 frontage road.

Following the impact, police said the bus driver stopped immediately, called 911, and attempted to assist Roberts at the scene. Authorities reported that there were four students on board the bus during the collision.

No Student Injuries Reported

According to police, the four students who were riding on the Arlington ISD bus at the time of the crash were not injured. No additional injuries related to the incident were reported by authorities.

Ongoing Police Investigation

The Arlington Police Department confirmed that no criminal charges have been filed in connection with the collision. The department also stated that the crash remains under active investigation.

Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the collision beyond the description of the bus’s turn, the cyclist’s direction of travel, and the sequence of emergency response actions at the scene.
