Authorities in Victorville, California, have arrested two people on murder charges in connection with a January shooting that killed 14-year-old Jeremy Rosales at Victorville Park. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported that the arrests followed several weeks of investigation.

According to deputies, the shooting occurred at Victorville Park, near the intersection of Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue. The incident resulted in the death of Rosales, who was 14 years old at the time. Law enforcement officials identified the case as a homicide and began an investigation that extended over multiple weeks.

Suspects Identified and Detained

Detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department stated that on a Monday following the shooting, they arrested two suspects from Victorville in connection with Rosales' death. The suspects were identified as 27-year-old Abel Ramirez and a 16-year-old boy. Officials did not disclose the juvenile suspect’s name due to his age.

Authorities said both individuals were arrested on suspicion of murder. The 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody and transported to the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center. Ramirez was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on a murder charge and, according to officials, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Investigators have not released information about the motive behind the Victorville Park shooting. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has not provided details on the specific investigative steps that led to the arrests of Ramirez and the juvenile suspect.

In the days after the shooting that killed Rosales, his friends, relatives, and football teammates gathered for a candlelight vigil in his honor. Attendees assembled to remember Rosales and to mark his death at the Victorville park where the fatal shooting occurred.

Authorities have not announced any additional arrests or charges in the case, and the investigation remains under the direction of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
