Two Missing Florida Sisters Found Safe After Alleged Kidnapping Linked to Roblox Contact

Two Minors Located After Multi-State Search

Two previously missing sisters, ages 12 and 15, from Indiantown, Florida, were located early Sunday morning after an alleged kidnapping involving a 19-year-old man they met through the online game Roblox. The Martin County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office reported that the girls, both minors, were found just after midnight early Sunday by the Georgia State Highway Patrol, who stopped a vehicle connected to the suspect.

Officials stated that the siblings appeared to be physically unharmed when they were recovered. Authorities had been urgently searching for the sisters, who were last seen around 5 p.m. on Saturday. An AMBER Alert was in the process of being issued as investigators worked to find them.

Suspect Identified and Charged

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek identified the suspect as Hser Mu Lah Say, a 19-year-old American citizen from Omaha, Nebraska. Say has been charged in Martin County with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of interference with child custody. At the time of the press conference on Monday, Budensiek said Say was jailed in Georgia.

According to the sheriff, investigators believe Say left Omaha on Friday morning and arrived in Indiantown on Saturday morning. Deputies reported that family members had previously identified a potential suspect during summer 2025 through the messaging application Snapchat and alerted law enforcement when the girls disappeared.

Timeline of Disappearance and Recovery

Sheriff Budensiek said the girls went missing early Saturday evening. Earlier that day, their cellular devices had been taken away by family members as punishment for attending a local park. The sheriff stated that the girls later left home again to meet the suspect.

Deputies examining the girls’ device found a “constant thread of communication” between the suspect and the sisters. This communication included references to the suspect driving to Indiantown, Florida, to pick up the girls and leave the area. Budensiek said deputies then regarded the case as a type of abduction, noting that although the girls went willingly, their ages meant they were considered to have been taken.

The sheriff’s office initially shared that investigators believed the girls might be in the custody of an unknown adult Asian male and released photos of the male and the sisters. Authorities tracked a suspect vehicle and its route of travel from Florida back toward Nebraska. The Georgia State Highway Patrol ultimately located the vehicle and conducted the traffic stop that led to the recovery of the children and the detention of the suspect.

Online Communication and Alleged Grooming

Budensiek said authorities believe communication between the suspect and the sisters began in the summer of 2025 on the gaming platform Roblox and later moved to Snapchat. He stated that the family had reported “weird things” occurring at the home, including gifts, primarily food, appearing at the residence. According to Budensiek, authorities believe this activity formed part of a grooming process involving the suspect and the two girls.

At a press conference on February 2, 2026, Budensiek said the suspect was passive during interactions with law enforcement and did not provide any statements. It was not immediately clear if the suspect had retained an attorney.

Company Responses to Incident

Roblox’s chief safety officer, Matt Kaufman, issued a statement on Monday saying the company was investigating the incident and would fully support law enforcement. He stated that Roblox has safety policies and safeguards designed to monitor for harmful content and communications, block sharing of personal information, and restrict user-to-user image or video sharing. Kaufman also said Roblox had recently introduced global age checks intended to limit children and teens to chatting by default with others in their age group.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Snap, the company behind Snapchat, released a statement expressing sympathy for the teens and their families and gratitude to law enforcement involved in the rescue efforts. The spokesperson said the company works closely with law enforcement to support investigations and to prevent criminal activity on its platform. The statement noted that Snapchat users must be at least 13 years old to create an account and that users between 13 and 15 years old do not have access to Public Profiles.
