Brookhaven Resident Arrested After Online Dog Abuse Video

The Brookhaven Police Department arrested 19-year-old Brookhaven resident Aspen Easterling on Friday night in connection with an animal cruelty investigation at a residence on Town Boulevard in the City of Brookhaven, Georgia.

According to investigators, officers began receiving multiple complaints on January 30 from residents who reported seeing a video online that appeared to show a dog being abused within the City of Brookhaven. As the video circulated on social media, police received numerous emails and tips from concerned members of the public.

Investigation Leads to Warrants

Detectives identified a suspect in the case and confirmed the associated address tied to the reported video. Based on the information gathered during the investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence on Town Boulevard as well as an arrest warrant for Aspen Easterling.

Around 9:35 p.m. on Friday, officers executed the search and arrest warrants at the Brookhaven residence. Police report that the operation was carried out without incident, and Easterling was taken into custody at the location.

Dog Located and Seized by Animal Control

During the execution of the search warrant, officers located a three-month-old Maltipoo at the residence. Police state that the dog appeared to be in good health at the time it was found.

DeKalb County Animal Control responded to the scene and took custody of the Maltipoo. Officials indicate that questions regarding adoption or the status of the animal should be directed to DeKalb County Animal Control.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Following the arrest at the Town Boulevard residence, officers transported Aspen Easterling to the DeKalb County Jail. Police state that Easterling has been charged with animal cruelty.
