Teen Pursuit and School Bus Crash in Harris County

A 17-year-old suspect led law enforcement on a brief vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash involving a school bus in the Humble area of Harris County, Texas, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Location and Timing of the Pursuit

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the pursuit began Tuesday evening near the Eastex Freeway and Lee Road. It concluded at the 14200 block of the Eastex Freeway service road, where the suspect's vehicle collided with the school bus.

Students and Injuries Reported

Aldine ISD reported that the school bus was carrying 28 students from Aldine Middle School at the time of the crash. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, more than two dozen students were on board, and four of them were transported to a hospital with minor injuries after the collision.

Aldine ISD stated that the four injured students were taken by ambulance to the hospital for evaluation. The district also said it was working closely with law enforcement following the incident.

Suspect Taken into Custody

Deputies said they took the 17-year-old suspect into custody after the pursuit and crash. Law enforcement reported that the vehicle involved in the pursuit had been reported stolen. Deputies also recovered a stolen gun from the scene.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed the sequence of events, from the initiation of the pursuit to the crash involving the school bus and subsequent arrests and recoveries. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez did not state why deputies initially began pursuing the suspect.

District Response

Aldine ISD said it is cooperating with law enforcement as the situation is addressed and emphasized that student safety is its top priority. No additional injuries beyond the four students with minor injuries were reported by officials in connection with the crash.
