Norristown Homicide Suspect Ziyker Washington Arrested in Philadelphia, Charged With Murder

Suspect Captured in Philadelphia on Norristown Homicide Warrant

On Monday night, Pennsylvania State Police apprehended 20-year-old Ziyker Washington of Norristown at a home in Philadelphia. Law enforcement officials in Montgomery County announced the capture on Tuesday.

Authorities had been seeking Washington in connection with the Nov. 30, 2025 slaying of 19-year-old Hamid Boyd. Boyd was shot to death on the 1000 block of Powell Street in Norristown. Investigators reported recovering 45 spent shell casings at the scene of that shooting.

Charges and Alleged Motive

Officials stated that Washington has been charged with murder, firearm possession, and related offenses. They also said the killing likely stemmed from fighting between rival gangs in Norristown.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele issued a statement following Washington’s apprehension. In the statement, Steele said the murder of Hamid Boyd appeared to have been caused by feuding between two groups of young people. He noted that the incident left one person dead and resulted in three others being in prison.

Additional Arrests in the Case

Two other individuals, Mark Fields, 18, of Norristown, and Theodore Adams, 17, of Philadelphia, were previously arrested in connection with the same case, according to officials. Both are awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Authorities had been searching for Washington since the November 30, 2025 shooting in Norristown. Steele stated that Washington managed to evade police for more than a month before his capture in Philadelphia.

Custody Status and Upcoming Court Date

Officials said Washington is being held without bail in police custody in Montgomery County. A preliminary hearing for Washington is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2026.

Law enforcement officials have credited public tips and assistance with helping to bring Washington into custody. They emphasized that efforts to locate individuals wanted for homicide in Montgomery County will continue until such suspects are detained.
