Man Stabbed While Intervening in Fight at Chicago Restaurant
A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a man who attempted to break up a fight inside a Burger King restaurant on Chicago's Northwest Side. The incident occurred Friday at around 8:30 a.m. in the 6400 block of West Irving Park Road in the Dunning neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, a 26-year-old man was inside the restaurant when he tried to intervene in a fight. During this intervention, he was stabbed multiple times. Authorities stated that the man’s effort to break up the altercation directly preceded the stabbing.
Victim Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Police reported that the victim was transported to Lutheran General Hospital. He was listed in critical condition following the attack. Officials later clarified that the victim is 26 years old, noting that he was initially reported as being 24 years old.
The stabbing took place within the Burger King located along West Irving Park Road in the Dunning area. The sequence began with the unidentified fight inside the restaurant, followed by the victim’s attempt to intervene, and then the stabbing that left him seriously injured.
Teen Suspect Arrested and Charged
Chicago police stated that the 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody less than an hour after the incident. He has been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon. No additional charges were announced at the time of the police statement.
