Infant Death Leads to Murder Charge in Rising Sun

On Wednesday, Maryland State Police arrested 24-year-old Destiny Faith Chiveral of Charlestown, Maryland, in connection with the death of her five-week-old child in Cecil County. Authorities have charged Chiveral with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and related offenses. She is currently being held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center.

Incident at Leedle Circle Residence

The case centers on the death of a five-week-old girl who was pronounced dead on December 4 at a home on Leedle Circle in Rising Sun, Maryland, located in Cecil County. Following the infant's death at the residence, the child was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for further examination.

Cause of Death Determined by Medical Examiner

At the Medical Examiner's Office, officials determined that the five-week-old girl died of trauma. This finding became a key element in the subsequent criminal investigation conducted by state authorities.

State Police Investigation and Search Warrants

Maryland State Police investigators pursued the case by obtaining and executing search warrants related to the investigation. The warrants covered Chiveral's phone and two separate residences. According to Maryland State Police, troopers located evidence during their investigation that led to probable cause supporting the charges of murder and child abuse.
