Fatal Shooting Reported Near Horseshoe Casino
A man died and another man was injured after a shooting near Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore early Wednesday morning, according to police. Officers responded to the incident in the 1500 block of Russell Street at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Police stated that officers were notified of a ShotSpotter alert and were dispatched to a Royal Farms gas station located in the 1500 block of Russell Street. When officers arrived at the gas station, they found a 26-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Victims Located and Medical Response
Authorities reported that the 26-year-old man was transported from the scene to a hospital in critical condition. Police later confirmed that he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
While officers were responding to the shooting scene, police said a 22-year-old man walked into a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. According to police, his injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and he was listed in stable condition.
Police Investigation and Public Appeal
Police have not released additional details about the circumstances of the shooting near Horseshoe Casino and the Royal Farms gas station on Russell Street. Investigators are continuing to examine the events that led to the death of the 26-year-old man and the wounding of the 22-year-old man.

Data from the Baltimore Police Department indicates that, between 2022 and 2024, the number of gun violence victims in the city has declined by 26 percent. Police data also shows that both homicides and non-fatal shootings have decreased during this period.
So far this year, Baltimore has recorded 126 homicides, compared with 183 homicides at the same point last year. The city has also recorded 298 non-fatal shootings so far this year, which represents a 24 percent drop from 394 non-fatal shootings during the same time frame last year.
