Deadly Shooting Reported at North Houston Rental

On November 21 at approximately 10:30 p.m., police in Houston responded to a shooting at a short-term rental property located in the 8000 block of Orebo Street. Officers found 23-year-old Kevin Fowler inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, where he died on November 24.

Suspect Charged in Fatal Incident

Authorities have charged 21-year-old Laderrick Dwayne Dixon Jr. with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting. Detectives reported that Dixon and a second unidentified suspect, described only as a young, slim man, were involved in the incident.

Investigators Detail Sequence of Events

According to homicide detectives, Dixon and the second suspect went to the property while searching for Dixon’s girlfriend. The location contained two separate units, and the men reportedly approached the wrong one. Investigators stated that the suspects encountered Fowler, whom they believed may have been involved with the woman.

As Fowler drove away from the property, both suspects allegedly opened fire on his vehicle. Fowler was struck by gunfire, while three others inside the car were not injured. Detectives later identified Dixon as one of the shooters.

Ongoing Search for Second Suspect

Authorities confirmed that Dixon was already in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges when he was formally charged in this case. The second suspect has not been identified, and investigators continue working to determine his identity and location.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the second suspect to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
