Army Major Accused of Secretly Recording Patients at Texas Medical Center

Army Gynecologist Charged in Texas

Army Maj. Blaine McGraw, an OB-GYN at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood in Texas, has been formally accused of taking videos during intimate patient examinations, according to the U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel.

Alleged Recordings and Time Frame

The U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel stated that McGraw allegedly secretly recorded video of at least 44 women from January 1 through December 1, 2025. According to the independent counsel responsible for prosecuting crime in the Army, one of the alleged victims was not a patient. The alleged recordings occurred while McGraw was serving in his role as an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Army medical facility at Fort Hood.

Specific Charges Filed

Charges brought against McGraw include 54 specifications of indecent visual recording, five specifications of conduct unbecoming an officer, one specification of willful disobedience of a superior officer, and one specification of making a false official statement. These charges were announced by the U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel as part of its formal action in the case.

Status of Legal Proceedings

A preliminary hearing for McGraw has not yet been scheduled, but the Army Office of Special Trial Counsel indicated that such a hearing is required before the case can be referred for trial. The Army stated that McGraw was suspended on October 17 after allegations against him surfaced. The Army also reported that McGraw was taken into custody on December 2, when Fort Hood officials ordered him into pretrial confinement for apparently violating conditions of liberty imposed by his commander.

Custody and Confinement

Following the order for pretrial confinement, authorities placed McGraw in custody. He is currently being held at the Bell County Jail in Belton, Texas, according to information from the Army post.

Civil Lawsuit Filed in Bell County

In addition to the military charges, one of the alleged victims filed a civil lawsuit against McGraw last month in the District Court of Bell County. The plaintiff filed the suit under the pseudonym Jane Doe to protect her identity. Court filings state that she sought medical care from McGraw for pelvic pain and concerns about her uterine health. The lawsuit alleges that during at least seven or eight appointments, and after either sending nurses away or not bringing one into the room, McGraw groped, touched, and examined her in ways described in the filing as unrelated to healing.
