Man Found Dead After Apartment Fire in Northeast Philadelphia

Authorities are investigating after a 63-year-old man was found dead following an apartment fire on the 2800 block of Welsh Road in Northeast Philadelphia early Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Fire Reported and Response

Officials reported that the fire broke out in an apartment building on Welsh Road at approximately 1:15 a.m. Emergency crews responded to the scene and gained access to a basement apartment within the building. Inside the unit, they discovered a 63-year-old man lying on the floor.

Death Pronounced at the Scene

Medics who responded to the incident pronounced the man dead at 1:32 a.m., according to police. No additional injuries were reported in connection with the fire at the apartment building.

Fire Contained to Basement Unit
